Nenomoshia Yates

12-year-old Nenomoshia or “NeNe” was a shy and quiet 6th grader at Kelly Miller Junior High School. She lived with her father and step mother in Northeast Washington, D.C. On October 1, 1971, Nene’s family sent her to a grocery store less than one block from the Yates home. She never returned. Less than three hours later, her body was found just off the shoulder of Pennsylvania Avenue in Prince George’s County, Maryland by a Hitchhiker.
